Learn the Terms

It would be funny if you are driving a car not knowing what an engine or a fuel tank is. Same goes to computers. Computers programmers, manufactures and technicians use several term to describe events and parts of your computers. Learning them would sync your understanding with the technical department. Leave the troubleshooting first, these terms are much more important to learn. Lets start with the basic. Computers can be categorized into many types namely;

Desktops : A machine that comes with a rectangular box (CPUs) and connected to an external display and has a mouse and keyboard plugged into it. They are non-mobile machines and mostly placed in offices and homes.

Desktop

Laptops / Notebooks : A machine that can be taken anywhere. It comes with an attached screen, keyboard and a touchpad which works as a mouse. Laptops are mobile and runs on battery ( which needs to be recharged with an adapter) and most common among students.

Laptop

Netbooks: A machine that looks familiar with a laptop but much smaller. Netbooks come basic functions and  mostly meant for travellers. It is also mobile and light.

Netbook

All-in-Ones : This is a hybrid of desktops and notebooks. It has a display, no CPUs with keyboard and mouse attached separately. A common all-in-one is an iMac manufactured by Apple Inc.

All-in-One (iMac)

A Macintosh is a machine that is specifically manufactured by Apple Inc. They are most commonly knows as Macs. There are various Macs namely Macbooks, iMacs, and MacPros. You can gather all the information you need about Macs from www.apple.com. Machines that aren't Macs are called PCs basically. They are manufactured by a bunch of manufactures and can be assembled by yourself.

We will learn more terms in the coming posts. Cheers :D
